Juliana Soares was born in 1988  she is currently living in São Sebastião, São Paulo (Brasil) an inspiring and peaceful beach townwhere she grew up. Juliana considers herself as an eclectic person: she studied cinema at university where she got in touch with different forms of arts. She is involved with  several  photography and design projects especially social and sustainable design (she also won a prize on it). She wish she can someday link photography, design, and the social side too. Photography is her passion: whenever she goes, she brings her camera with her, an old and heavy pentax fm 35mm because she is in love with this old way of taking photos. She always thinks about her ‘environment’, the air she is breathing by the time she presses the button of her camera… people around her, nature, old things (or things that look old) and her dreams are her favourite subjects. She uses little ‘tricks’ to realize her pictures: loosing a negative inside a camera, using old negatives, or double-exposing it (two ‘clicks’, one above the other). If she can make this with people she loves and places that make she feeling good. life is confusing, but that moment she captured is what it is, clear, marked and unique. Her work has already been shown in some magazines and websites around the world, like fLIP, London Independent Photography Magazine, and some exhibitions in Brazil.

Juliana Soares è nata nel 1988 e ha vissuto in un po’ di posti, al momento vive a São Sebastião, São Paulo (Brasile), la città dov’è cresciuta, una ispirante e tranquilla città di mare. Si considera una persona eclettica: ha studiato cinema all’università, e là è entrata in contatto con un sacco di arti. Là ha lavorato nella produzione culturale, ora è impegnata in progetti collegati con la fotografia e il design – in particolar modo il design sociale e sostenibile (ha anche vinto un premio in merito). Vorrebbe un giorno mettere insieme fotografia, design e anche l’aspetto sociale. La fotografia è la sua passione: ovunque vada, porta la macchina fotografica con sé, una vecchia e pesante pentax fm 35 mm perché è innamorata di questa vecchia maniera di fare fotografie. Pensa sempre all’”ambiente”, l’aria che sta respirando nel momento in cui preme l’otturatore della sua macchina… le persone che la circondano, le vecchie cose (o quelle che sembrano vecchie) e i suoi sogni sono i suoi soggetti preferiti. Usa piccoli “trucchi” per realizzare le sue foto: srotolare un negativo nella camera, usare vecchi negativi, o esporre due volte (due scatti, uno sopra all’altro). Se può farlo con le persone che ama e con i posti che la fanno sentire bene. La vita è confusa, ma il momento che immortala è ciò che la rende chiara, definita e unica. Il suo lavoro è già stato pubblicato su alcune riviste e siti web per il mondo, come fLIP, London Independent Photography Magazine e alcune mostre in Brasile.
