Hi Kasia, where are you now and what`s the weather like?
What is photography for you? When did you start?
I’ve been interested in photography for as long as I’ve had my first KODAK compact camera which I was given at the age of 9, but I truly started learning about the craft few years ago. From there, I invested in a quality camera and started working with digital photography. I’ve polished my photography skills in personal and portrait photography, editorial shoots & wedding photography. What started as a quiet personal hobby has evolved into unique images filled to the brim with the vivacity and emotion. I honestly enjoy capturing the sum and the substance of the moment, and sharing that with others.
How would you define your style?
Im not quite sure if I can say about uniqueness of my work yet in some special dimension. I like vintage touch on my photographs, soft, warm tones and crisp black & whites. My picture has a story behind and I try to illustrate it as well as possible.
“Travels” and “Dance” are important elements in your work, can you tell us more about it?These are the most inspirational, essential and important subjects of my life, adore to be airborne. I used to dance since I was 9 years old, tried different styles, now mastering tango argentino. That is why one my favorite photographs is about dance too by Richard Avedon [below]
Tell us a story about one of your pictures? What is your favourite shot and why?
In the photograph below, I was inspired by all the plane travels I had, its as well step from the dream. I love the blue as a dominant tone and the feeling of danger before the jump.
What`s in your photography bag? What would like in it that you don`t have?
I shoot with Nikon D80 accompanied with Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 G and NIkkor 18 – 105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR, SB-900 flash and numerous gadgets:) Soon upgrading for full frame. I’d love to definitely have Hasselblad for its incredible quality, crispness of photographs and lenses.
What’s the biggest challenge you’ve had to face to get a great picture?
I think it was during my travel to Argentina. We were visiting Iguazu Falls and Im afraid of height. A lot of pictures taken back then got my stomachache, vertigo and headache because of the fear.
If you had the chance and there were no limitations…what would you like to photograph?
Weddings in stunning locations worldwide and wilde animals in the amazonian jungle.
What`s the last book you read?
Im just reading “Seventh heaven” by James Patterson. I love criminal, police stories.
Are you working at a new project?
Im just in the middle of creating a portfolio for Sebastien Ulens as a finalist for Mister Belgium Personality 2012. The contest will have its final 11 November 2011!
Who is your favourite artist?
That would be Coldplay I guess! there is so much passion and love in their music.
Pizza and DVD or Cocktail and Clubbing?
I’m really both! I love watching movies with my boyfriend on our couch but clubbing with my girls is fantastic too!
What`s the question you wish I had asked? …and what is the answer?
Years ago, before I’d even imagined that someone would make an interview with me, I had plenty of those questions. Now I dont remember a single one!
